AHW Dancing with the Stars Draft: Week #3 Results!

Photo Credit: ABC / Dancing with the Stars
Last night, the third episode of Dancing with the Stars took place and the theme of the night was Hollywood Night!  This meant that we got a lot of different dance styles and costumes that centered around a particular movie or theme.  The end of the episode also brought us the results of last week's vote and announced who would be the second person eliminated from the competition!  Did #TeamAustin lose another member or did #TeamHannah lose its first member and even up the draft?  Which team came out on top for the night?  What were my five favorite dances of the night and why?  Find out now!  But be cautious because there will obviously be spoilers in this post!

Five favorite dances of the night (in order of how well I liked them):
  1. Brant and Peta: Brant and Peta have jumped to an early lead on my list of favorites.  This week they danced a Quickstep and scored the highest of the night - a 27.  Brant shows improvement each week which will be helpful in keeping him in the competition.  Plus, as previously mentioned, they are my favorite pair, so I look forward to their dance each week!
  2. Christina and Mark: Christina and Mark danced a Charleston this week and scored a 26.  I loved that they took the theme, ran with it, and really had fun getting into character.  Their dance was entertaining and Christina did so well at showing the emotion through the dance.  Side note: her daughter was adorable in her intro video!
  3. Corbin and Karina: Corbin danced a Quickstep and scored a 26.  I really like the Quickstep dance style because of the fast pace, and I think Corbin had the talent to pull it off well.  The difficulty level Karina has pushed him to every week is very impressive.  I would be shocked if he didn't make it to the finals, or to a week or two before then at the very least.
  4. Amber and Derek: They danced a Charleston this week and scored in the middle of the pack with a 24.  While I agree with the judges that Amber's footwork wasn't the greatest this week, I thought this dance and the music that went along with it were so fun, so I had to include it in this week's top 5!
  5. Elizabeth and Val: This week, they danced a Foxtrot to the tune of Frank Sinatra.  Am I the only one who thinks Elizabeth is not given the credit that she deserves?  Sure, she got a 25, but that is only one point above what Bill Engvall scored.  (Granted, he did better last night, but Elizabeth is miles above him, so I just think the scoring is unfair.)

The draft results for Week #3:  Since Keyshawn was eliminated from the competition last week, Austin's draft team has one less person than my team. Therefore, since the teams are uneven, this week's winner will be decided by the average score of the team. The one with the higher average score will obviously win.

#TeamHannah Scores:  26 + 27 + 24 + 26 + 16 + 24 = 143 / 6
Average Score of  23.8
#TeamAustin Scores:  25 + 16 + 22 + 25 + 24 = 112 / 5
Average Score of 22.4

This means that #TeamHannah came through with the win for the second week in a row!  At the end of the episode, it was announced that Brant, Christina, and Bill Nye would be the last three to find out their fate in the competition.  In the end, Bill Nye was the second person eliminated from the competition!  So, while I gain 2 points for winning this episode, I also lose 1 point and a member of #TeamHannah.

Current AustHan's World Dancing with the Stars Draft Standings:

My thoughts on last night's elimination: Last night, my number one draft pick (and the number one draft pick overall), Bill Nye the Science Guy, was sent packing.  Bill's appearance on the show brought a lot of joy, which is evidenced by the sheer amount of popularity his dances have brought in on the internet.  Bill has been a trending topic multiple times on Twitter since the cast release and he was such a joy to watch.  In a lot of ways, Bill's elimination was a good thing, though.  He had suffered an leg injury after his dance last week, so until that healed, he was basically unable to do anything.  Also, as he said himself, he wasn't at the skill level that many of the others were, so it's always good to see those people stay and improve.  But, major props to Bill for doing the show and caring so much about it.  Despite an injury, that if made worst could result in a huge surgery, he danced last night and still had fun doing it, with no complaints.  Bill Nye is a winner in my book and it's sad to see him and his great personality leave the show.

With two people eliminated from the competition, only 10 remain!
