Hannah's World

About Hannah:

I'm a college senior majoring in high school math education.  I watch many reality shows and sitcoms.  I'm currently writing about the second season of King of the Nerds.  Some of my favorite things include: my cat, swiffering, singing in the car, napping, and bargain shopping.

Favorite Current Reality TV Shows/Series include:
Big Brother, Survivor, Design Star, Project Runway, Shark Tank, The Amazing Race, The X Factor, The Next Food Network Star, The Bachelor(ette), So You Think You Can Dance

Shows That I Blog About:
Next Food Network Star, King of the Nerds, Worst Cooks in America, Dancing with the Stars, The Bachelor/Bachelorette premiere episodes, and older reality shows.

Favorite Survivor Seasons:  Tocantins (S18), The Amazon (S6), Fiji (S14), The Australian Outback (S2)

Favorite Survivor Castaways:  Stephen Fishbach (S18), Vytas Baskauskas (S27), Rob Cesternino (S6), John Cochran (S23/26), James 'Rocky' Reid (S14), Nick Brown (S2), Erik Huffman (S15), Colleen Haskell (S1), Greg Buis (S1), etc.

Favorite Big Brother Seasons: BB3, BB8, BB14, BB2, and BB7

Favorite Big Brother Houseguests:  Eric Stein (BB8), Ian Terry (BB14), Jason Guy (BB3), Dr. Will Kirby (BB2/7), Danielle Reyes (BB3/7), Matt Hoffman (BB12), Andy Herren (BB15), etc.

Some of my favorite reality TV shows of the past that you should remember but probably don't (listed in no particular order):
'Beauty and the Geek', season 3 cast
  • Beauty and the Geek:  This show originally aired on the CW channel, but I didn't watch it until it aired via reruns on the Fox Reality channel - AKA my favorite channel of all time.  I spent many weekends chilling on my couch watching marathons of this show with my mom.  The show put a group of nerdy guys and a group of model-type girls in a huge house together.  They were put into pairs and worked through challenges to try to become more than just their stereotype, hence Beauty and the Geek.
    Favorite Season: 3
Favorite Geek: Nate Dern (season 3)

Back in March 2013, BATG got a Youtube channel and they posted all of the episodes for all of the seasons - even the non-US ones!  You should definitely check them out for free HERE!
  • Solitary:  This is another show that I found via the Fox Reality channel.  The show originally aired on that channel and it ended up running for four seasons.  I believe the show only ended because the channel ended.  If you asked me what my favorite reality show is, excluding Big Brother and Survivor, I would probably say Solitary.  It took nine people (strangers) and placed them in individual pods.  These pods were small and empty.  I'd equate the size of them to the size of an office cubicle.  The only thing to be found in the pod was a TV screen (where Val, a computer voice, lived) and a green button (to talk to Val, make requests for the bathroom, etc.) and a red button (to quit the game or a challenge).  They had zero communication except with Val and were pushed to their limits (physically, mentally, psychologically) until one person would quit each challenge.
    Favorite Season(s): 2 and 3
Favorite Pod-People: Phu Pham (S2) and RobRob Hakel (S3)
Special Mention: Steven Gee (season 1) (GGG!)

The show has been uploaded to Hulu for FREE and it's definitely something that you should check out if you are a fan of great reality competition shows.
  • America's Most Smartest Model:  This show first aired on VH1 in 2007.  Sadly, it only lasted for one season, but let it be known that the season was amazing!
Favorite Models: Brett Novek and Jeff Pickel.

You can read about my extreme love for it HERE.  But, if you don't want to do that, but are interested in watching the show, you can watch it for free HERE on Hulu.
  • Dating in the Dark:  This one aired on ABC.  It took three guys and three girls.  The three guys could see and talk to one another, and same with the girls, but a guy and girl couldn't see each other.  They would choose to go on "dates" with one another in a completely dark room.  They could talk and do anything they wanted - they just couldn't see one another.  One great thing about this show was the drawings - where they told a professional artist what they imagined one of the people looked like.  These drawings were sometimes off, but sometimes very spot on!  The best thing about this show though was the reveal at the end!  Each guy would pick the girl that they wanted to meet, and same vice versa.  If they picked one another, it was all good.  If they didn't, it wasn't all good - but it was good TV.  And sometimes the people would choose to walk away and the person that chose them would have to watch the person walk away - down the hilly driveway!  These moments were the best parts of the entire show - but were a rare occurrence!
  • I Know My Kid's a Star!:  This show first aired on VH1 in 2008 and lasted only one season.  It isn't common that I admit to have watched this show, but here it goes.  This show was basically about stage moms who were trying to live vicariously through their children.  Children would have to act, sing, and dance their way to win the title of this show.  Essentially, it was Danny Bonaduce trying to find a child who was a true triple threat.  Needless to say, none of these kids were actual "stars" and I don't believe any of them went on to be actual "stars."  Still, this show was so comical and I watched the whole season like it was quality TV that couldn't be missed!
Who Wants to be a Superhero?
  • Honorable Mentions:  Other shows that I loved, but simply do not have the time to discuss at the moment include: For Love or Money (2003), The Swan (2004), Outback Jack (2004), Next (2005), Endurance, Last Comic Standing, Who Wants to be a Superhero?, The Mole, and MANY more!

I have written throwback posts for shows including:
