questions wrong and I was getting them right!"
This picture is from the first HOH competition of the season, titled "Mushroom Madness." The houseguests (excluding Dick, Jessica, and Dustin - who were all still hidden away in the HOH room) had 30 seconds to choose a partner. There would be one houseguest without a partner and they wouldn't be able to play. (Nick was the one left without a partner.) Eric and Kail probably ended up as partners because they were standing right by one another. (Oh how important the Eric/Kail thing would be later on in the game! (Not rivals, but up on the block together!))
Anyway, one person (Eric) had to answer questions while the other person (Kail) had to spin around on a mushroom. Each question missed made the mushroom spin faster. Eric tried to throw the competition, as he mentioned in the DR. He kinda failed at this and ended up answering the questions right. (He did miss one, to which he half-laughed and said "oops!" #ClassicEricStein)
After questions, the mushrooms just kept spinning and it was endurance. Kail apparently really want to win, because she ended up being the last one remaining. This made her and Eric the winning pair, but only one could be HOH. Dick, Jessica, and Dustin got to pick which one became HOH. Eric basically kept saying they should pick Kail because she did the work. And his speech worked! Kail became the first HOH and Eric stuck to his plan and went on to never win an HOH!
