Before I get into recapping this fourth episode, I must
first apologize for not recapping the third episode, which aired last
week. To be honest, I got pulled out of
room and tortured by teaching someone discrete math. So, short story, instead of watching nerds, I
got to go be a nerd. So, when I finally
got around to watching the episode, of which someone RUINED for me on Twitter
(I’m still not over this) beforehand, I was in a deep depression knowing that
Brandon was leaving. Seriously. This is why I do not pick favorites!! My favorite three contestants were the first
three out! I’m cursed! Anyways, that’s enough of my
complaining. Let’s get into recapping
this fourth episode!
This is how I felt when Brandon was eliminated last week!!! |
The teams are now even.
Danielle staying in the competition seems like it’ll be terrible for the
orange team, but it will be interesting to see if the civil war within the
orange team can be put to an end. The
blue team is happy that they’ve “knocked out the soul of the orange team.” This is good for them, but terrible for
me. I MISS BRANDON A LOT, OKAY? Ivan wants to be Indiana Jones and is shown
playing with a whip. Goodness..
Now it’s time for this week’s challenge to be
announced. “We’re all nerds. Did you know that?” –Ivan. No, no I did not. This week, the challenge is a debate on
superheroes. Alana is excited about
possible guest judges. Joshua hosted a
live geek debate show, so he is super confident about this challenge. On the other hand, Celeste has zero experience
with debates and doesn’t have a lot of knowledge on comics so she is therefore
dreading this challenge. Then we get more
emphasis on how Alana REALLY wants Joss Whedon to be a guest judge.
“You have a furrow in your brow.” –Alana
Celeste doesn’t like looking dumb in front of people and is
in tears just thinking about the challenge.
This is also (or has been in the past) a legitimate fear of mine, so I
can understand where she’s coming from.
More drama breaks out between Danielle and Joshua on the orange
team. Danielle feels that if Joshua is
so well versed on debates and the subject, that he should be taking the hardest
topic of the debate and not the easiest one.
Danielle is so annoying. (I miss
Brandon.)
Jay and Silent Bob!! |
Now it’s debate time!!
There is a huge audience! Jay and
Silent Bob are guest judges. (Poor Alana..)
Joshua claims that he is “not worthy” of being in Jay and Silent Bob’s
presence. Celeste also loves them and so
therefore she continues hating her life. The first topic of the debate is that “It is
more preferable to be born with super powers than to develop them later.” We have Alana vs. Ivan. Alana says that she wants to have a lower cut
shirt, what? (I’m not sure if this would really help, but.. okay.) Alana has a lot of good points, but not a lot
of confidence. Ivan seems to have a
weaker argument, as he didn’t talk a lot about villains. But, the winner of the debate, by a 2-1 vote,
is Ivan.
Debate Topic #2: Superheroes attract supervillians by nature
and create more problems for society than they create good. Joshua is a great public speaker. He makes a rookie mistake (it’s a rather
small mistake, in my opinion) but no one seemed to point it out until Genevieve
does. The judges seem to side with
Genevieve. The winner of the debate, by
a 2-1 vote, is Joshua. Kevin Smith hurt
Genevieve’s feelings and that “is not up for debate.” Honestly, I was a little surprised by this
result because the judges really were giving Genevieve a lot of praise.
Debate Topic #3: Having super powers should give you
immunity from laws and prosecution.
Celeste is attempting to be a powerful speaker to make up for her fear
and lack of knowledge, but is stuttering quite a lot. Danielle did a pretty great job. Joshua was pretty proud of her speech. Danielle also wins the round, so there is no
need for the fourth debate and the orange team automatically wins and will get
to go indoor skydiving. Sweet!!!!! I dream of doing this someday!!
Genevieve continues her hate for Kevin Smith. “Kevin Smith can go home and everything is
fine for him, but I have to face the fact that I’m probably going home.” The indoor skydiving is way cool. The orange team seems to want to send either
Genevieve or Virgil into the nerd off.
The blue team seems to want to send Alana into the nerd off. Celeste and Alana talk about playing Mario
Kart, so now I really want to play Mario Kart!! ARGH! (Side note: this show really makes me feel so
ADHD while writing these recaps…)
My cheap and quick attempt to make the eliminated nerds black and white.... ha you're welcome |
The orange team returns and they are in high spirits. Time to break out the booze, they say! Joshua says that Danielle can slap him one
time to make up for the lie that he told her, and then they’ll return to BFF
territory. Joshua is scared to death of
the upcoming slap, it’s almost funny because Danielle does not look like an
overwhelming powerful girl. The slap is
right to the face! HAHAHA! Joshua is
nearly moved to tears. A pinky promise is made that the orange team is back in
action! Woo! Go orange!
Virgil tells Genevieve it’s pretty obvious that the orange
team will send him to the nerd off. It
seems that he wants to higher her spirits.
Okay, Virgil is a good guy and I’m coming around to liking him,
finally. Well, okay nevermind, so now
Virgil goes to the orange team to try to talk them out of voting for him. Ivan has been given the title of the “nerdfather”
which is a great thing to note. Alana
makes things awkward for the orange team because she “lingers.”
“I send people home with my powers of intellect.” –Alana
They’re now finding out who will be going into tonight’s
nerd off. As planned, the blue team has
voted Alana into the nerd off. The
orange team has chosen to send Genevieve into the nerd off. Oh, Alana is married? I did not know that. Her husband and she own a lot of comic books
so she doesn’t even feel the need to study.
Clearly this is going to probably come back to bite her. (Side note: I guess this dismisses my “Alana
has a crush on Virgil” prediction… BUMZIES.)
Genevieve uses her superpowers to knock down walls during this week's Nerd Off. |
The nerd off is testing their knowledge on comic book
superheroes and when they get questions right, they will be breaking through
brick walls superhero style! The orange
team is obviously cheering on Alana, as she is the weaker one. But, Alana misses the first question, and it
was a question about BATMAN????? WHAT??
She is supposed to be the Batman supernerd! “Alana has never been psychologically healthy
so you can’t expect for her actions to make sense.”
Genevieve gets the second question right, but Alana misses
that one as well. Genevieve gives the
credit to her studying that she did that day, whereas Alana did no
studying. Kids, pay attention. (Side note: I’m not a comic fan, and so I
find it almost sad that I’ve gotten more questions right up to this point than
Alana, a self-proclaimed comic book nerd!! Go me! #TeamHannah for King of the
Nerds season 2!” lol)
Alana becomes the fourth nerd eliminated from the competition. |
Alana gets the third question right so she is now only two
questions behind. But the fourth
question is answered correctly only by Genevieve. So Genevieve only has to get one more
question right to win the nerd off. And
the fifth question is answered correctly by Genevieve , so Alana is finally out
of the game. She says it’s because she
didn’t start reading comic books until the 90s, which okay, but.. don’t big
fans of comic books go back and read the originals?
“Biggest win so far for Blextrophy is getting rid of Alana.” –Virgil
“It’s okay to wear your nerdiness on your sleeve.” –Alana. You’ve got that one right, Alana. Your moon love will be missed greatly by me. Now “get that witch a moon. Witches love moons.” -Alana
King of the Nerds airs on Thursdays at 10 pm on TBS!
