Much to my excitement, the third season of Burning Love
started this week on Yahoo! The season
is called Burning Love: Burning Down the House.
The first two seasons were plays on The Bachelor and the Bachelorette,
so it was only fitting that they have a play on Bachelor Pad! As of now, the first three episodes are up
and you can watch them HERE for free! You
should definitely watch it before reading any further because there will be
spoilers!
Assuming that you have already watched, or you like to live
on the wild side and read recaps without watching the show, let’s get the fun
started!
Episode #1 Recap – The Limo Arrivals
The cast of Burning Love: Burning Down the House (Entertainment Weekly) |
The former contestants returning to play in Burning Down the
House are:
- Mark Orlando, played by Ken Mariano (The first Bachelor of the BL series)
- Julie Gristlewhite, played June Diane Raphael (The first Bachelorette of the BL series)
- Annie, played by Abigail Spencer (the chosen girl on Mark’s Season)
- Lexie, played by Beth Dover (Mark’s Season)
- Vivian, played by Morgan Walsh (Mark’s Season)
- Carly, played by Janet Varney (Mark’s Season, went on to date Julie before her season)
- Virginia, played by Helen Slayton-Hughes (twin sister of Agnes from Mark’s Season)
- Prince Simon, played by Rob Huebel (Julie’s Season)
- Alex, played by Joe Lo Truglio (Julie’s Season)
- Zakir, played by Kumail Nanjiani (Julie’s Season)
- Blaze, played by Ryan Hansen (Julie’s Season) (Candy Andy from 2 Broke Girls!)
- Noah, played by Alex Anfanger (Annie’s Season)
- Kirk, (I’m not too sure on who plays him) (Annie’s Season)
- Bevarly, played by Leslie Bibb (Joe’s Season)
- Felicia, played by Carly Craig (Joe’s Season)
- Symphony, played by Christine Taylor (Joe’s Season) (Ben Stiller’s wife)
- Hathwell, played by Armen Weitzman (Super Fan of the BL series)
- And Michael Ian Black as the host, Bill Tundle (host of all the seasons)
So, there are not a lot of big names on this season, but
there are some new faces! Joe was played
by Ben Stiller. His season doesn’t
actually exist, but it is known that he chose Symphony and they went on to make appearances in both the
first two seasons. Annie was on Mark’s
season and was chosen, but never had an actual season aired, so the people from
her season are newbies too. I was hoping
for more of the guys from Julie’s season, like Adam Brody and Michael Cera, but
I am so happy that Zakir was brought back!
He was hilarious on that season and one of my favorites!

We find out that Mark and Julie are still together, but that
things are “not great” between them. We
also find out that the winner of this season will win $900! Blaze informs us that him and Titi (from Mark’s
season,
who he was dating at the end of Julie’s season) broke up the night
before, so he’s going into the house single and ready to mingle. Agnes’ twin season, Virginia, is there to
play since Agnes was old and died. (Obviously, she didn’t REALLY die.)
Virginia enters the house and a panic breaks out because everyone
thought Agnes had come back from the dead.
Superfan Hathwell says he has watched the show while it was being
filmed, from the bushes. LOL. He has
trouble with the cameras, because he just wants to look in them while he talks. The contestants ask if he wants
autographs. Symphony and Joe are still
together, but lost almost all that they had.
But Symphony said the house brought too many bad memories, so she quits
before even entering the house. The show
replaced her with Vivian, who was best friends with Bevarly. They are no longer friends though, so drama
is sure to ensue!“Sometime a kid will get so fat that you can’t even tell what race they are.” –Kirk, Annie’s season
Episode #2 Recap – The First Challenge
The episode starts out with Hathwell being excited to be in
the house and surrounded by the contestants from the seasons, but they treat
him poorly because he is not one of them and wasn’t on the show. He doesn’t mind it too much because he “never
thought he’d get to be on the receiving end” of them being mean to him. We then find out what caused the drama that
ended the friendship between Vivian and Bevarly. It was Bevarly’s birthday and Vivian didn’t
send her a “happy birthday” on Facebook because her internet wasn’t working.
“They send you a reminder! Hello!” –Bevarly, on Facebook birthdays
Carly still appears to have feelings for Julie, like she did
during Julie’s season. There is a huge
rivalry between Mark and Kirk, since they are both alpha dogs in the
house. Zakir has a crush on Carly, but
can’t comprehend how she could never like him.
Julie was nervous to see Blaze again, but tells him that what happened
in the past is all under the bridge.
We find out that the first challenge started the moment that
they all walked in the door of the mansion.
The challenge is “who do you like the least?” Like on Bachelor Pad, the guys will vote and
eliminate one girl, and the same vice versa.
Two people will be eliminated by the end of this episode. Each person will be putting the picture of
who they want gone through the shredder.
A lot of guys are voting off Lexie because she’s crazy. Hathwell decides to go against the rules and
shred his own picture because he can’t bear to vote of any of the people that
he idolizes. Funny to note is that when
Simon went to vote, he tried to stick the whole picture frame through the paper
shredder.
It’s time to read the votes, but due to the paper shredder,
it will “take forever!” After waiting
for five hours, the results are in. The
girl voted out is Vivian, because Bevarly got Mark to talk all of the guys into
voting her out. The guy voted out is
Kirk, because Mark got Bevarly to talk all of the girls into voting him
out. Kirk blamed Mark and a fight almost
broke out, but then Kirk said he was a big fan of Mark, so the fight didn’t
happen.
“Sometimes words are just like bonkers. It’s like who came up with these??” –Mark
Episode #3 Recap – Hugging Contest
Mark trying to impress Bevarly to get her to be a part of his alliance. (Yahoo) |
The episode starts with Mark talking about how he’s here to
play the game and he starts to try to form an alliance in the house with the
girls. He first goes to Bevarly like he
did the episode before since she has a lot of friends in the house. Blaze likes Annie, but she isn’t interested
and he tells that he’s not used to girls playing hard to get with him. His hurdle is Lexie because she has an
obsession with him.
Then, the contestants exit the house to find the host Bill
Tundle and a contest awaiting them. The
contest will be a hugging contest! I can
only assume that this will be similar to the kissing contest on Bachelor Pad!
“I love hugs! If I could, I’d give a hug a hug!” –Bevarly
Much like the kissing contest of Bachelor, the guys will be
blindfolded. Then the guys will vote on the
girl who gave the best hug. Julie is
apprehensive about the contest because of her committed relationship with
Mark. Carly opts out of the
contest. Lexie goes overboard with her
hugs, which led to Lexie winning the contest for the girls. She picks Blaze, Mark, and Noah to go on the
date with her, but she really didn’t want to take anyone besides Blaze. Julie gets Mark to reassure her that they’re
good.

Then, somehow, it next shows Hathwell trying to vote himself
out again, but it’s not actually time for a vote-off, so then we’re taken to
Lexie’s date with the three guys. Blaze
doesn’t have feelings for her, but says he’ll act like it to get safety since
he’s playing the game. Mark uses the
date as an opportunity to get more people in his alliance. Lexie said if she was thinking with her head,
she’d give Mark the immunity, but she will instead be thinking with her
heart. She chooses to give the immunity
to Blaze. Lexie then tells Blaze she
loves him and he’s the best thing that has ever happened to her. He instead just tries to go back to where the
other guys are, and that’s where the episode ends.
So this finishes up the recaps of the first three
episodes! The next new episode will be
posted on Monday, so be sure to watch! I’ll
be sure to recap after the next set! Did
you like these first three episodes?
